About DesiBoston
DesiBoston is a community-driven calendar dedicated to showcasing South Asian events across the Greater Boston area. From music, dance, and theatre to literature, festivals, and cultural gatherings, Desi-Boston serves as a centralized platform where the richness and diversity of South Asian traditions can be discovered and celebrated.
This initiative is a joint effort by the Berklee India Exchange led by its Founder and Director, Zahara (Annette Philip) and Indian Classical Violinist Pranav Swaroop Bettagere. We are also supported by our community partners at the Consulate General of India in Boston and the City of Boston’s Office of Immigrant Advancement.
Our mission is simple:
To create a single, accessible platform where the South Asian community can stay connected to its cultural roots, while also inviting wider audiences to explore and engage with these vibrant traditions.
By bringing events into one place, DesiBoston aims to:
- Increase visibility and attendance for cultural events
- Support artists, organizers, and cultural institutions
- Foster community engagement and cultural exchange
- Serve as a bridge between tradition and new audiences
